I recently transferred my mercenary healer to the Shadowlands for a short-term sub position on a raid team.  The process was simple, smooth, and fast – even though the site stated that the process could take up to an hour, it took about 5 minutes (off-peak).  The biggest perk was getting my legacy transferred, which I’d been wanting to do for a long time.  Not only do my Shadowlands characters have all buffs now, they also have several million credits, access to reputation-based legacy armor, and a decent set of decorations (should I ever want to establish a stronghold over there).

As the transfer was being processed, I felt an unexpected twinge of sadness – it was the first time I was breaking up the Jedi Covenant “family” of characters.  Although I’ve never gotten into the roleplaying portion of the game, I love the family tree aspect – after making each new character, one of the things I do first is find their place in the web of relationships to help establish their backstory.  My bounty hunter, being my first Imperial character, had a complicated web of relationships, including a tenuous alliance with my Sith Warrior and a burning hatred for my Imperial agent (who was seen as a meddlesome competitor).

However, it’s only temporary and my little family of characters will be reunited soon!  (Translation: whenever cheap server transfers shut down.)  He’ll also be bringing back a few rewards for my Jedi Covenant family – raiding achievements, conquest titles, and some rare decorations.  Since it doesn’t look like Bioware will be making a PVE megaserver on the East Coast any time soon, I’ll be taking advantage of any future cheap server transfers to keep my legacies updated so that both “families” can benefit.
